7 interesting facts about computers that you probably didn't know...
Hey!
In principle, a computer is a device that is capable of performing a sequence of certain logical operations or algorithms.
And if I were to introduce this great invention with these dry words, no one would probably think that our society today cannot function normally without it.
But since we all know computers nowadays, its presentation is actually pointless.
That is exactly why I decided to tell you 7 interesting historical things about computers in today's article.
But before we get there, let me first introduce myself...
My name is Uroš and I am the co-owner of the Kron technical service, where we have repaired more than 75,586 devices in the 30 years of operation.
And no - I am not telling you this to brag, I just want to tell you something else...
Since I have already encountered thousands of computers, since their inception, I have often taken an interest in their history.
While browsing, I found some interesting information and I present some of it to you in this article...
Here it is...
7 historical attractions that are connected to computers
#1: The first computer
The first electronic device for automatically solving complex mathematical problems is called ENIAC.
It was developed by the US Army during World War II to calculate the trajectory of cannon shells and aircraft bombs.

The computer weighed 27 tons and cost about half a million US dollars.
The most interesting thing is that it took up about 1800 square meters of space.
But if we look at the second interesting thing…
#2: Big companies
Quite a few companies prove that it is possible to write a legendary entrepreneurial story from a garage business.
And 3 of them are from the computer spectrum.
Today's giants in the computer fields Apple, Microsoft and HP began their story in a garage.
And the third point is…
#3: Memory Card
The first hard drive with 1 gigabyte (GB) of computer memory was made in 1980.
It weighed 250 kg, and its price was $40,000, which is around €33,000.
For comparison, just over 40 years later, we get 1 (terabyte) TB or 1024 GB of external drive for around €50.
Speaking of memory values…
#4: Brain..
If a computer wanted to have the same memory capacity as a human, then we have quite a few advantages here. A human is said to have a memory capacity of around 3580 TB.

But I must also emphasize this…
Considering how quickly and exponentially this world is evolving, maybe this advantage isn’t even that great…
#5: "Password Protected"
Tbut this information is perhaps the most bizarre of all…
The US military had a “highly protected” password for controlling nuclear-tipped missiles for 8 years.
The password was 00000000.
*Yeah… Good thing we’re still alive : )
But if we look at the penultimate point…
#6: Viruses...
With every innovation comes new opportunities for mischief, and computers are no different.
Soon after their development, computer viruses also developed.
As many as 5,000 new ones are said to be developed every month.
#7: Hackers...
These viruses and other damage have to be done by someone, and usually it's hackers. Hackers are computer grandmasters who are basically involved in hacking or unauthorized entry into other people's computer networks.
Of course, not all of them are bad. Some of them work for companies to test their security systems.
Among the most famous hackers is American Kevin David Mitnick, who hacked into the Los Angeles bus system at the tender age of 15, hacked into phones in high school, and later even hacked into Nokia, Motorola, and Siemens systems.
*Although it sounds fun, Kevin later ended up behind bars...
In short...
These were all 7 interesting facts about computers that I chose.
